iPhone Photo Friday | Western Ky Photographer

Friday, January 29th, 2010

This is my second installment of iPhone Photo Friday.  Today’s photo is from my front yard.  We are currently in the middle of what could end up being up to 10 inches of snow by Saturday morning.  This picture was cropped, converted to black and white, tweaked contrast and added a frame in PS Mobile and then a final black and white edit in PhoneGrafer.  I am including the before and after shots for comparison.

Thankful Thursday | Western Ky Photographer

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Today, I am completely thankful for my 3 beautiful children.  Although they stress me out at times, they are the joy in my life and the reason I push myself to succeed everyday!  I thought I would list a little something about each one of them.

This is my oldest.  He is 15 years old and very talented Alto Saxophone player!  I could not ask for a more caring, compassionate son.  He is always looking out for others and defending them if they are wronged.  He’s not worried about being “popular”, he is proud the be a Band Geek (a name he affectionately calls himself) and I don’t have to worry about the choices he will make.  He helps out with his little sisters no questions asked.  And is just all around awesome!  I am so proud of him!

This is my middle daughter.  She just turned 9 in December, but is as tall as some girls in Jr. High :)  You could say she is completely opposite of us in every way.  From her hair and eye color to her being left handed when everyone else is right handed.  But that is what I love about her.  She is so unique and definitely her own person.  She is very talented when it comes to Art.  She loves to sing and act as well as cheerleading.  She just loves to do it all!  And with her stubbornness I have a feeling she will succeed in anything she sets her mind on.

This is the baby.  Though at 3 1/2 she’s not really a baby anymore :(  She has such personality and quite the sense of humor!!  I am constantly amazed by the things she comes up with and she keeps us laughing everyday.  I love getting to see things thru her eyes and her amazement and wonder when she learns something new.  Sometimes we forget about the “fun” of things and fortunately she is there to remind us.  She is so loving (with a bit of a mean streak at times) and there’s nothing like coming home, even if its just from the grocery and she runs a greets you with a hug!

I hope everyone has a blessed day and takes a minute to remember what they’re Thankful for and why.  Being thankful doesn’t just have to happen around the holidays.

*please excuse the non-centered pics.  The blog is not wanting to cooperate right now with the size of my pictures and I don’t have time to resize them!

Twitterific Tuesday | Western Ky Photographer

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Yes, yes I know that there is a Follow Friday on Twitter.  But I wanted to do my own post on Tuesdays that highlights one of the people that I am following on my personal Twitter page.  I hope you’ll take a minute or two to check them out!

My first Twitterific Tuesday pick is the Pioneer Woman.  Ree Drummond aka “The Pioneer Woman” has created a wonderful website that focuses on her family and friends, cooking, photography, home and garden, as well as homeschooling her Punks (what she affectionately calls her children).  She is a true city girl that found her true love in the most unexpected place and now resides on a gorgeous ranch in Oklahoma with her family, dogs, horses and their cattle.

So, when you’re not able to sit down and enjoy her blog located at thepioneerwoman.com you can still see what’s going on in her world.

Monday Mash-up | Western Ky Photographer

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Today is Monday Mash-up.  Just a little bit of everything that happened over my weekend.

Friday evening was pretty laid back.  Just the family hanging out and enjoying our time together.

Saturday was a bit of a different story.  My son had rehearsal for the All District Honor Band followed by a concert that afternoon.  The concert was comprised of 3 groups: Middle School All District, High School All District Concert Band and the High School All District Symphonic Band.  They each had their own conductor and only 2 1/4 days of rehearsal time total (actually less than 1 day when you add the hours).  The concert was amazing and everyone did a wonderful job.  We were so proud!

My mother let the kids go home with her and spend the night.  So, hubby and I had a date night which included eating dinner at Outback and the last 6 episodes of Dexter Season 1.  We were up until 2am!!  It was completely worth it!

On Sunday I got to enjoy sleeping in since the kids weren’t home, which was a great thing since we were up so late.  It was a pretty lazy day for us all (except for the grocery shopping).  After everyone fell asleep we started Season 2 of Dexter.  One episode down and 11 more to go!
